Kali Escandón recommends: 5 things to do in Mexico City

You can already imagine the number of places to visit in CDMX that have accumulated during the almost 700 years of existence of this city, from archaeological sites, colonial temples, palaces built during the Porfiriato, countless museums and historic neighborhoods that have themselves been sneaking in among the many things to do in Mexico City.
Here is this list of 5 things to do in Mexico City the next time you stay at the Kali Escandón Hotel:
1.- Walk through the streets of the Historic Center
It stands out among the places to visit in CDMX, as it concentrates a large number of majestic buildings. Around the Zócalo you can visit the National Palace, which houses imposing murals by Diego Rivera. On one side are the ruins of the Templo Mayor, the most important ceremonial and tributary center of the Aztec empire.
You'll also find the Metropolitan Cathedral, built between 1573 and 1813. In search of more tourist attractions and things to do in Mexico City, walk down 5 de Mayo Street or Madero to the Palacio de Bellas Artes, which will dazzle you with its Carrara marble facade. Walk along the Alameda Central, whose enormous trees and beautiful fountains have seen many generations of Mexicans from all social classes parade through in its 400 years of existence.
2.- Explore Chapultepec Park
You would need a whole week if you wanted to visit all the tourist places in Mexico City that Chapultepec Park houses in its almost 680 hectares. This urban park is among the largest in the world and its treasures include Chapultepec Castle, the National Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Modern Art, the Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art and several more.
Also in Chapultepec Forest you will find the National Auditorium, the mechanical games of the Chapultepec Fair, as well as countless fountains, monuments, sports areas and 3 artificial lakes.
3.- Admire the murals of Ciudad Universitaria
Although there are around 110 murals throughout C.U., there are 8 that are on our list of things to do in CDMX; these are located on the central campus of the Ciudad Universitaria of UNAM, in the Rector's Tower, the Central Library and the Olympic University Stadium. The authors of these works are Siqueiros, Juan O'Gorman and Diego Rivera.
4.- Sail on a trajinera in Xochimilco
And if we talk about tourist places in the south of Mexico City, you cannot miss a morning or an afternoon aboard a colorful trajinera in Xochimilco. These boats are made of wood and were common in the lake environment of pre-Hispanic Mexico.
Xochimilco still preserves canals that you can navigate with a guide; on the fun tour you will come across live music, delicious typical snacks, interesting legends, crafts and refreshing drinks.
5.- Visit the most “chic” neighborhoods in Mexico City
By staying at Hotel Escandón Kali Escandón you will be just a few minutes from Condesa and Roma, two historic neighborhoods that have gained renown in recent years for having developed an incredible range of things to do in Mexico City, including specialized restaurants, bars and cafes, as well as alternative nightclubs, theaters, art galleries and boutiques that are the delight of residents and visitors.
Architecture, history, nature, art and fun, these 5 tourist places in Mexico City bring together everything you need on your visit to our beautiful country!
