Did you know that in order to provide Mexico City with green infrastructure and a vision of rescue and regeneration of the basin for the treatment of river water, the government invested in the construction of the Ecoducto Viaduct Linear Park?

This work, “unique in its kind in the Capital,” covers four sections between Unión Street and División del Norte, Insurgente, Coyoacán, Medellín and Monterrey Avenues. It is a sewage extraction system that, through treatment with biodigesters and artificial wetlands, recreates plants; whose function is to purify the water.

This process is exemplified in an artificial system; taking advantage of the force of gravity, taking the water to the bottom of a lake where it gathers in a single channel in the center of the Ecoducto, the water passes through a filter and is finally cleaned, improving its quality, at least with irrigation quality.

Viaduct linear park promoting biodiversity with rain gardens, vegetation, a museum of aquatic plants

Artificial wetland systems are a low-cost alternative to treat sewage. Its existence encourages the incubation of wildlife, being part of an improvement to the environment.

The Viaducto Ecoducto Linear Park also includes a linear park to promote biodiversity with rain gardens, vegetation, a museum of aquatic plants, a chinampa area and recreational spaces.

Among the main contributions of this work we can mention:

  • The treatment of 30 cubic meters of effluent per day.
  • The capture of 41 tons of carbon.
  • The mitigation of heat islands and dust.

Learn all this firsthand and in less than 10 minutes on foot from Hotel Kali Escandón, where you will be impressed by this new infrastructure located in a place that was thought to be forgotten and unprofitable, turning out to be quite the opposite.

Don't miss this great ecological experience and enjoy nature!
