Fair of Friendly Cultures 2018
Culture, music and gastronomy are once again the stars of the new edition of the Feria de las Culturas Amigas 2018, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary. It will take place from April 14 to 29, in the Plaza de la Constitución, and this year it will have a special guest: China.
This year, attendance records are expected to break for the 10th edition of the
Feria de las Culturas Amigas, specifically, it is expected to receive around 4 million visitors and the presence of almost a hundred countries.
According to statements by the head of government, Miguel Ángel Mancera, the fair will also serve to continue to thank Mexico City for the countries that supported the country during the earthquakes of September 19.
Mexico City is already immersed in the final preparations to kick off in the middle of the month with this great event that unites like no other the customs and traditions of different countries through music, film, literature, theatre, photography... and of course, gastronomy. One of the main attractions of this already veteran fair.
China, star guest
April in Mexico City is synonymous with the Festival of Friendly Cultures, an event that this year will be held in alliance with the celebrations of the World Design Capital and that will welcome China as a special guest and Italy as the country of design.
Significant is the fact that the festival will coincide with another date for the history of the Mexican capital, the opening of the recently remodeled Plaza de la Constitución. As on previous occasions, access will be free and will last nine hours, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Plaza de Santo Domingo and the Zócalo Capitalino will be the main venues for this event, while other locations such as the Alameda Central, the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, the House of the First Printing Press of America, the Cultural Center of Contemporary Mexico, the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana, the Mexico City Museum, the José Luis Cuevas Museum, the National Museum of World Cultures, the Esperanza Iris City Theater, the Plaza Seminario, the Metro Collective Transportation System, and the Open Gallery of the Rejas del Bosque de Chapultepec will act as alternate venues where different activities will take place.
In the 2018 edition of the Festival of Friendly Cultures, the architectural firm TO has been the winner to carry out the design of the main pavilion that will be located in the Zócalo. It is the design called Project UR and refers to the origin of this urban center made up of roads, plazas, and temples.
Over the years, this festival has become one of the most important international cultural events in Mexico City, where both its inhabitants and visitors have the opportunity to learn more about the culture, traditions and customs of different nations, through the presentation of a large number of representative stands and artistic activities.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit and learn about the different cultures at this great event in our beautiful Mexico City!!
