For the past two years, the Museo de Arte Popular has been hosting a splendid and unique parade of alebrijes, which you cannot miss, because through the imagination of Mexican artisans you will be able to discover something different, with a lot of Mexican tradition and culture through the journey of these magical creatures, and you will also be able to enjoy nature alone, with friends or family.

This year, approximately 200 sculptures of colorful beings will participate in a giant version, some pieces reach up to 3.60 meters in height!

As we mentioned, these creatures were the product of the imagination of the famous Mexican artisan Pedro Linares; who, although he tells the story, came out of a deep sleep while he was terribly ill, in his imagination these creatures inhabited a quiet forest that transmitted a lot of peace, where he did not feel pain (or at least that's what Don Pedro said), and that accompanied him until he was able to recover.

You're probably wondering where their peculiar name came from. Well, Mr. Linares says that shortly before waking up, the creatures shouted their names: alebrijes! alebrijes!

Don Pedro gave them life using the cartonería technique, which consists of using a wire or reed structure on which the modeling is done with newspaper and cardboard; finally, the finishing is done with various painting techniques to give life to the different and colorful alebrijes.

At Kali Escandón we invite you this October 20th starting at 12:00 noon to enjoy one of the largest parades in Mexico City. This time, its route will begin in the capital's Zócalo, passing through the streets of 5 de Mayo and Juárez until reaching the already famous Paseo de la Reforma; ending at the Glorieta del Ángel de la Independencia.

It is important to mention that if you cannot attend the parade, do not worry! The colorful sculptures will be on display along Paseo de la Reforma until November 4.

So take advantage of the opportunity to see them in a big way and take some impressive photos next to these spectacular imaginary beings, which distinguish them from their Mexican ingenuity and are another tradition that identifies us as a people and culture.

Don't miss all this and much more on your visit to Kali Escandón, FEEL COMFORTABLE.
